My Experience with Above & Beyond
Dawn’s Final Post
December 7, 2016 by Dawn Simons

Signing Off

It is with great sadness that I announce this is my final blog post that I will be writing for Above & Beyond. This August, I completed my Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Wilfrid Laurier University, and I am now the university’s Events and Sponsorship Assistant in the Athletics and Recreation department. I am an aspiring event and marketing coordinator with dreams of having my own company some day. After working with Kim for five years, I am sad to leave something that I love so much, but I feel truly blessed for the opportunities and experiences she has given me.

My Personal Favourites

I have fallen in love with so many decor elements over the years, but my absolute favourites are the industrial cafe lights, chalkboard art, harvest tables and all of our unique backdrops! I really like rustic and vintage designs that incorporate the personal touch of a couple’s personality. Chalkboard art is one way to add a personalized touch to your wedding and is a great decorative piece.
Over the years I have put together countless styles of backdrops, and every time it amazes me how unique and customized each one is. After watching so many couples see their dreams become a reality and getting to choose their favourite elements, I can’t wait to one day choose the decor for my own wedding!

Experiences I Won’t Forget

One of my favourite experiences working for Kim was decorating Jillian and Chris’ tent wedding in 2013. This couple was so involved with their decorate which took place at Jillian’s parents farm. They were so kind and easy to work with and I absolutely loved all of the details they chose for their wedding, especially the custom ice bar, the fireplace lounge area, and the incredible 7 feet tall centerpieces!

I also really enjoyed getting to meet all of the couples that attended the wedding shows that we participated in, and teaching them about what Above & Beyond offers. I have seen so many different types of weddings from glam to rustic and everything in between, not one being the same as another. I would like to thank everyone who reads this blog and I hope you continue to do so for wedding inspiration, tips and tricks and the latest updates at Above & Beyond.

Signing off for now,
